Candy Queen Introduces Premium Swedish Candy

Published on: snackandbakery.com

Swedish candy is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about trends in sweets, and now, consumers will be able to experience it in an entirely new way. Candy Queen, a new mobile candy truck concept founded by husband-and-wife team Michael and Karen Andreacchi, is introducing a scoop-your-own, weigh-and-pay premium Swedish candy experience designed for pop-ups, parties, and events across the San Francisco Bay Area.

The concept is rooted in Swedish culture, where candy is treated as something intentional, often reserved for weekends and shared socially. That mindset carries through every aspect of Candy Queen, from how the candy is sourced to how the experience is designed. Inside the truck, guests can choose a bag and build their own mix, selecting exactly what they want in the quantities they want before weighing and paying.

Drawn to the opportunity to introduce this authentic attraction on wheels, Michael brings a proven ability to scale category-disrupting businesses into the venture. Michael previously founded Junk King more than 20 years ago, growing the company to more than 170 locally owned franchises across North America and establishing it as one of the most recognized names in junk removal.

“This really started with how my wife grew up in Sweden,” says Michael. “Candy wasn’t something you grabbed whenever; it was something you looked forward to, especially on the weekends. You’d walk into a candy shop, take your time, and fill a bag with exactly what you wanted. Even now, every time we go back to Sweden, we bring home suitcases of candy because you just can’t find that same feeling here. That’s what we wanted to share when creating Candy Queen—to bring that experience to people, where everyone gets to create their own and walk away with something they love, no matter how old you are.”

At a time when consumers are paying closer attention to ingredients, variety, and personalization, Swedish candy has gained traction for its simpler ingredients, fewer artificial dyes, and allergy-friendly options compared to traditional United States candy, offering something that feels both nostalgic and new. Candy Queen works directly with a supplier in Växjö, Sweden, to source its candy, bringing authentic flavors and ingredient profiles to the U.S.

“We see a major opportunity to introduce people to Swedish candy in a way that feels authentic, accessible, and experience-driven,” said Jon Wells, president and partner of Candy Queen. “The ability to customize your own mix, combined with the mobility of the trucks, creates something very different from simply buying a pre-packaged bag of candy off the shelf. People are looking for experiences they can share at birthdays, school events and community gatherings, and Candy Queen brings that together in a format that feels fun, flexible and unlike anything else in the market.”

Each Candy Queen truck is climate-controlled and built to create a comfortable, retail-like environment, with guests moving through in small groups. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand into additional markets and explore franchise opportunities as consumer interest in Swedish candy continues to grow.
